comb duck

Comb

Yo Doods   My bird photography is influenced by my time as a fashion photographer many years ago.  My approach to photographing birds is the same as doing a cover for Vogue or an album cover.  I’m also influenced by photographers like Richard Avedon and Norman Parkinson.  The Comb Duck is an example.  I shot it (photographically) with a ‘Parks’ stylish fashion spread for Vogue in mind.   The Comb Duck is part of a series of ‘portraits’ I did for a National History Museum exhibition called ‘Birds of Barnes’.  I took the photographs of the birds at the WWT reserve at Barnes, London. Recently I’ve had a wall of my portraits hung at the new magnificent WWF headquarters at Woking, opened by Sir David Attenborough.      x      J de Q
